"My name is Mariana... I am 17 years old and have lived in the orphanage since I was 4 years. Before I was brought to this orphanage, my parents were fighting over anything until my mother took me and my two sisters to Galati to live with our grandparents.

At our grandparents we had bad living conditions, we were 15 people in 3 rooms with only 3 beds. It was very hard and this is why my mother had no other choice but to bring us to the orphanage.

My oldest sister got to stay with her.

During the last 13 years the relationship between me and my mother has become very cold.

When I turn 18, I will have no place to go. I am very sad because of this, because even if I had a relationship with my mother, I cannot go back to live with her, she does not have a stable life and would take any salary I would make from a job for herself. My mother is very verbally abusive and selfish and my father drinks and causes fights. This is why we lost everything. I have been through a lot, and it is in my mind like it was yesterday. This is not how a child should be treated by her parents.

Regarding the project Art Oasis, I LOVE IT HERE!  I always wanted to learn about Art. At first I thought there will be a certain distance kept between the children from the orphanage and the teachers, but in   time I realized we are a team and a family that’s even better than the usual ones and I really don’t want us to ever be apart.  I consider my fellow art students my brothers and sisters, the teachers my Aunts and Miss Camelia like a mother. Miss Camelia is all the time by my side and she helps me and the other children every time we need her help. I love her truly, she has shown me more love and trust than my own parents did.

Miss Camelia is a very good and gentle person like Kay is.
